Flex pumps (flexible lobe rotary pumps) are positive displacement pumps that can operate in both directions of rotation and can be installed in any orientation. The unique design of the pump means that valves, stuffing boxes and shaft seals are unnecessary. They are usually close coupled, but for exacting duties with continuous operation or unusual types of drive they are also available as long-coupled pedestal pumps. There are many fields of application in industry and research. Their simple design ensures trouble-free operation. The flexible lobe is the only part subject to wear and must be replaced at intervals that depend on its working temperature and the chemicals that contact it.
